Editor’s note (Onur) : In today’s post, we tried to honor James Dean in a humble attempt of replicating some of his famous photographs. He is the “rebellious bad boy” of all times and a style icon as well. “Rebel Without a Cause”, which is even today still the ultimate “teen-angst” movie, plays a big part of establishing his cultural icon status. Sadly, before the movie’s release, he dies in car accident at the age of 24 – the price he paid for his love of racing and fast cars.
As John Lennon once said, “Without James Dean, the Beatles would have never existed.” he was an idol and an inspiration for many musicians, artists and every rebellious soul.
As a style icon, we can say that his jeans, leather jackets and white t-shirts were his signature items but he also could pull off wearing suits, shirts and ties in his own casual style. The best words to describe his style would be “simple” and “effortless”. He brought “dressing down” on the table, when the preppy look was “in”.
His whole life was overall a statement, a statement against the life, which is often laid down by others for us. “Dream as if you’ll live forever. Live as if you’ll die today.” as he puts in his own words…
